The extremely hot challenge was successful! Mercedes Benz eAtros 600 will debut

In the road freight industry, the field of heavy long-distance transportation has the largest operating span, the most transported goods, and the most challenging challenges. At the same time, it also has great potential for emission reduction. After the launch of the pure electric truck eAtros for heavy-duty distribution in 2021, Mercedes Benz trucks are currently entering a new stage of pure electric heavy-duty long-distance transportation.

On October 10th, the Mercedes Benz eAtros 600 is about to debut! In late August, the Mercedes Benz eAtros 600 just conducted summer high temperature measurements in Andalusia, southern Spain. In weather exceeding 40 degrees Celsius, the Mercedes Benz eAtros 600 easily passed this highly challenging test.

It is reported that the Mercedes Benz eAtros 600 will be the first pure electric mass production vehicle for Mercedes Benz trucks to achieve “component to vehicle” assembly on the existing production line of the Walter factory, including the installation of all electrical components, until the vehicle is finally taken offline and put into operation. This model not only ensures high production capacity, but also allows traditional trucks and pure electric trucks to be produced in parallel on the same assembly line. For the eAtros 300/400 and low platform eElectronic models, electrification work will be carried out separately at the Walter Future Truck Center.

In terms of technical details, the Mercedes Benz eAtros 600 will adopt an electric drive bridge design. The two motors of the new generation electric drive bridge will continuously output a power of 400 kilowatts, with a peak output power of over 600 kilowatts (816 horsepower). Based on our previous live photos taken at the Hannover Auto Show, it is unlikely that there will be significant changes to this design.

Compared to the traditional central drive design, the electric drive axle can directly transmit power to the wheels through the reduction mechanism, resulting in higher overall power transmission efficiency. And during deceleration, the braking energy recovery effect is better, and the deceleration braking ability is stronger and safer. Moreover, due to the reduction of power components such as the gearbox and transmission shaft brought about by the central drive, the overall weight of the vehicle is lighter, while further freeing up chassis space, which is more conducive to the layout of large capacity battery packs and the installation of other electrified components.

In terms of energy storage system, the Mercedes Benz eAtros 600 adopts the LFP lithium iron phosphate battery pack provided by Ningde Times, and uses three sets of designs, with a total capacity of exaggerated 600kWh. It is reported that under the working condition of a total weight of 40 tons of vehicles and cargo, the eAtros 600 can achieve a range of about 500 kilometers, which is sufficient for long-distance transportation in most regions of Europe.

Meanwhile, according to officials, the battery of the eAtros 600 can be charged from 20% to 80% in less than 30 minutes, at a considerable speed. What is the source of this? MCS megawatt charging system.

Based on the information currently exposed by the Mercedes Benz eAtros 600 electric heavy-duty truck, the 800V high-voltage platform, 500km range, and 1MW charging efficiency all showcase the unique charm of this new model. The full camouflage test “new design” is full of expectations. Will it surpass the current model and become another landmark of Mercedes Benz trucks? Surprise, let’s leave October 10th as a meaningful day.
