The driver was not injured after the semi-trailer rolled off the I-40 bridge onto the road below

The driver of the semi-trailer was not injured when he overturned on the I-40 overpass in Flagstaff on Sunday evening.
Tractor-drawn fish sticks were scattered along the Naval Observatory road near Brayside Road on the west side, but no one was hurt on the road below.
1st Battalion Flagstaff Fire, Engine 1 and Engine 6, responded shortly before 9:00 pm Sunday. By the time firefighters arrived, the driver was out of the car and walking on it – only the trailer of the truck had fallen from the bridge. The truck itself landed on its side on the highway above.
According to the Flagstaff Fire Department, it initially appeared that the tracks that ran parallel to the Naval Observatory Road would need to be closed to allow debris to be removed. As it turned out, the rafts did not hit the rails, but simply led to road closures.
Sierra Ferguson came to The Daily Sun from broadcast journalism, where she worked as a reporter, host and producer in Florida and California. Born in Flagstaff, she loves everything about her hometown, from its bustling downtown to the towering Ponderosa pines.
The accident also caused a brief shutdown of the BNSF railroad while the Hazardous Materials team dealt with the explosive gas release.
